Together, Purple Change Wellness® and the Purple Change Wellness® Institute of Trauma Recovery and Well-Being create an integrated healing ecosystem designed for adults who think deeply, feel intensely, and often navigate the world with a blend of intelligence, sensitivity, and overwhelm.
Purple Change Wellness® specializes in EMDR therapy for adults experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or emotionally charged life events that feel difficult to move through. Our approach is especially supportive for highly intelligent, gifted, and neurodivergent adults who excel cognitively yet struggle with emotional processing, relational patterns, or social navigation. Treatment is adaptive, strengths-based, and grounded in nervous system regulation, helping clients build self-awareness, deepen connection, and experience sustainable well-being.
The Institute, currently in its early development as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is guided by a set of core goals that expand our mission and deepen community impact. Our primary aim is to offer practical recovery supports and accessible pathways to emotional and social growth, especially for adults who often feel overlooked or misunderstood in traditional care settings.
Key goals for the Institute include:
Reducing barriers to care by addressing the systematic and personal obstacles that prevent adults from accessing the services, resources, and supports they deserve including financial limitations, limited community resources, and gaps in emotional or social support.
Creating programming that honors the needs of gifted, high-achieving, and neurodivergent adults, offering spaces for clarity, connection, and confidence through trauma-focused workshops, public education, and community outreach.
Hosting annual fundraising events that strengthen community connection, increase awareness, and sustain the Institute’s long-term mission.
Establish a one-time assistance fund to help eligible adults access essential therapeutic services, wellness supports, or stabilizing resources during moments of transition or need, while also promoting personal responsibility, growing independence, and reducing long-term reliance on external support. This model ensures that individuals receive meaningful, time-limited assistance that help them move forward with clarity and stability, rather than creating ongoing dependence. The goal is to offer a brief, stabilizing path that cultivates resilience, restores self-trust, and helps adults move forward with clarity and confidence.
This work is strengthened through a collaborative partnership with Wayne State University School of Social Work graduate-level interns, whose dedication to learning and commitment to high-quality, supportive education enrich every aspect of our programming. Their involvement brings fresh insight, emerging research, and a deep passion for service, helping us design and facilitate community-centered, trauma-informed initiatives that truly meet the needs of the adults we serve.
Through this partnership, Purple Change Wellness® and the Purple Change Wellness® Institute of Trauma Recovery and Well-Being contribute to building the strong clinicians of tomorrow, professionals grounded in compassion, clinical excellence, and a nuanced understanding of gifted, high-achieving, and neurodivergent adults. Working alongside Wayne State University School of Social Work graduate-level interns, both entities help cultivate a learning environment where curiosity is encouraged, high-quality supportive education is prioritized, and emerging clinicians are mentored with intention and care.
Together, we create a space where innovation thrives and access expands, ensuring that the next generation of social workers is empowered to lead with integrity, emotional attunement, and a profound respect for the diverse communities they will serve. This collaborative model strengthens our mission, enriches our programming, and reinforces our shared commitment to shaping clinicians who are not only skilled, but deeply human, grounded, and ready to make meaningful impact.
